Licences and sources

Waypeak is written by us. For some parts we use free software and open data. This page lists what comes from where and under which licence. Thanks to everyone who shares their work freely.

These programs run only on our server and are not delivered to your device.

Data

Changes: data was filtered, simplified, translated and merged. Wikipedia-based values (plugs, voltage, driving side, emergency numbers) live in facts.json and emergency.json and are shared under CC BY-SA 4.0.

The land border and continent data in challenges.json is derived from mledoze/countries and is shared under ODbL 1.0.

Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0.

Fonts

Icons, badges and images

All icons, badges, wonder silhouettes, medals and placeholders are drawn for Waypeak (own SVG paths). Flags come from flag-icons 7.6.0 by Panayiotis Lipiridis (MIT License, licence text) and are served by Waypeak itself. Areas without a flag of their own show their code. Photos and texts in posts belong to the people who upload them.

The pictures of landmarks and wonders are our own, strongly simplified line drawings. They are not traced from photos or other icon sets and do not show protected works of art such as statues. The badges for countries and groups are our own designs, not official coats of arms or emblems.

Trademarks and names

Names such as UNESCO, Wikipedia or Natural Earth belong to their owners; mentioning them does not imply a partnership or endorsement.

The same applies to NASA, Google, Apple, Stripe, Travelpayouts and Aviasales. Waypeak is not affiliated with or endorsed by these organisations and companies. The names are only used to describe content or services, for example for sign-in or the import of Google location history. The list of modern wonders of the world is our own selection of well-known places; Waypeak is not affiliated with any wonder-voting organisation.
